Holiday Games quilt

Photograph by Charles R. Lynch for American Quilter. Used with permission.
Are you ready for another fun Christmas project? This is Holiday Games, my quilt just published in the November 2018 issue of American Quilter. It measures 67" x 79" and the blocks finish at 12". These blocks come together in a flash and the instructions are very detailed - you will have it completed before your guests arrive!

Two of the things which strike me most about this quilt: the 'disappearing' lattice effect of the alternating blocks and the fact that the squares on the 4-patches are large enough for us to display our favorite holiday fabrics. I chose Hoffman Fabrics' Poinsettia Song collection as it includes festive, bright, and lots of contrasting prints to make any design pop. Here is what I mean:

It is great when a fabric collection has large and small prints, dark, medium, and light coordinating fabrics, and vivid colors - a designer's dream! No wonder you see these fabrics on my quilts all the time. I am hoping Hoffman Fabrics never stops making them.

I LOVE this cover photo! What an amazing combination of quilt and car. As you go through the pages of the November 2018 issue of American Quilter you will find fantastic projects, how-to articles, and will see the winning quilts from AQS's contest in Grand Rapids, Michigan. OMGoodness! The creativity and workmanship of the quilters are awe-inspiring, as one wonders about the hours, the patience, and the attention required to make (and quilt!) such works of art. You must see them...

I am off to design more quilts to share with you. Enjoy your mid-week,

  1. Love this. Guess I have to buy a magazine to get the pattern. Keep up the good work! Knit Pics is the best place for yarn, isn't it.

    1. Elaine, yes, in this case you do. I am glad you liked the quilt. When I design free patterns (which is just about all the time!), I always mention them here so you can download them. Have a great day.

  2. Is this whole quilt done with these 8 fabrics? It’s beautiful!

I am so glad you are taking the time to leave a comment. It is always nice to hear from you!
