Keep Swimming Quilt

My love for batiks is non-ending, so when I saw these Marine Batiks by Michael Miller Fabrics I could not wait to design a quilt with them! This is Keep Swimming and the pattern is available as a Free Download from Michael Miller's website.

The quilt measures 51" x 64" and the blocks finish at 8" and 7"x8". The colors and textures of the fabrics are fantastic and I was able to use them to mimic the movement of the waves and the sandy bottom of the ocean. Take a look at some of the fabrics I used:

Amazing, right? So, the fish blocks were a perfect fit for the fabrics. The pieced blocks are fun and easy to put together.

This quilt is very cheerful (It was a gray day when I took this indoor photo...). Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting did a great job with the quilting! It was very difficult to part with this quilt.

These Michael Miller batiks make me so happy. If you are a batik lover like me, check out your local quilt store for their Marine batiks. You will thank me for this tip!

Remember, this pattern is a free download from Michael Miller Fabric's website. Cool way to begin March, huh?

  2. Hi Denise,
What a fun quilt pattern! Perfect for batiks, I can absolutely see the inspiration for the name in your quilt. That zigzag or chevron underneath the fish sure gives the idea of movement. It looks like you quilted it with a wavy ~~ pattern which helps with the whole idea of water/fish too. Very nice! ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Awesome design! Your quilt looks fantastic, and you did a great job at picking out your fabrics. The chevrons make it look like the fish are swimming.
