City Girl Sew Along Block #15

"Courthouse" is the name of Block #15 of the City Girl Sew Along. Two fabrics is all it takes: one for the columns, and one for background. Are you ready?

What you will need:

Background fabric
Fabric for columns

Cut:
From background fabric: (1) 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" rectangle
                                         (2) 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles
                                         (4) 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" squares
                                         (1) 1-1/2" x 7" rectangle
                                         (2) 1" x 4-1/2" rectangle
From fabric for columns: (1) 1-1/2" x 7" rectangle
                                         (6) 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles
                                         (3) 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles

Arrange pieces next to your sewing machine as shown on picture above.

Stitch together the two 7" strips, before you open them cut them into four 1-1/2" squares, and press seams to darker fabric.

Continue stitching the rows using 1/4" seam, then stitch rows together to finish the block.

"Courthouse" reminds me of the old buildings in downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil. Somehow, it just did not make sense to use steps as I had originally thought. Columns had more to do with the picture on my mind.

How are you doing with your blocks? Have you any idea how you will put them together once I am done having fun designing them? I can't wait!

I will see you soon,
