[Update to the post: this is what happens when I write a post at 1 am... I forgot to include the Giveaway. Duh!!! So, read below for the surprise. Ai, ai, ai...]
The Nancy Drew Blog Hop is finally here! Carol Swift from Just Let Me Quilt is the cheerleader for this cool Blog Hop organized by Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt.
I cannot wait to see what everyone will come up with. As for me...
I started by picking some fabrics from the Nancy Drew line by Moda. Once the fabrics arrived, Ryan, my 11-year-old, and I sat down to brainstorm about the quilt design.
Should I use the title from one of the books? How about detective tools? Or should I focus on Nancy Drew herself? We decided on the latter.
Quilt design is always fun for me. Involving one of my sons makes it even better! He liked what I did and I hope you will, too. Are you ready for the big reveal???
Here is Nancy Drew in action. I chose blue for the silhouette as it paired well with the blue of the border fabric. The magnifying lenses on the background fabric are also blue. The footprints were an afterthought - I like how they tied in with the theme.
I used blanket stitch on the [machine] applique, and outlined the applique as I was quilting the piece. Although I considered different free motion motifs, meandering seemed appropriate (don't detectives go back and forth over the clues?).
Now, for the giveaway: one yard of this pretty Marcus Brothers fabric!
For a chance to win, just leave a comment telling me what you thought of my wall hanging. For a second chance, become a follower and leave another comment telling me so! I will announce the winner on March 15.
For more fun with the Nancy Drew fabric line, check out the other bloggers who are showing their creations today:
